As well as writing recording and gigging and collaborating a lot, Tim has put out his own records, records of others and has organised a gig by Serengeti and by Open Mike Eagle. Gigupnorth caught up with him to chat...
Tim - together with a friend and with a venue - brought US Rapper Serengeti to Durham. "We knew he was playing in London so we found out his booking agent and contacted them and arranged for him to play in Durham".
A fee was agreed, a hotel was booked, and tickets went on sale. The night was a success in terms of getting hold of an act they admired, and in terms of selling plenty of tickets. In monetary terms the show didn't quite break even. "We weren't brave enough with the ticket price", Tim says ruefully. "Be prepared to lose money because that is a distinct possibility."
But imagine booking one of your favourite acts and having the chance to share the stage. Here at G.U.N. we think it is worth the risk of losing a bit of cash. But get the balance right and there's every chance a profit will be made.
